This is my car for the time being, a 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth. I intend to do a full review of it, but for now, just know this; it's the business. Anyway, we got about three inches of snow last night, so today was my first time going for a sleigh ride in the Abarth.

Kinja'd!!!

Under most conditions, it's solid as a rock. There are some brick roads in town, and under braking, it can scoot around a little bit, but generally it stays far more planted than, say, a lifted 2WD Tundra. I drove behind one this morning, and watched the guy get full oppo on a straight, flat road, which is particularly difficult to comprehend since trucks are always the best things for snow, amirite? The front splitter does a decent snow plow impression whether I want it to or not, but it's not a big issue. I'd say it passed the snow test.

There are some purists out there who decry the new 500 because they changed it to FWD. None of those purists have ever had to DD a RWD car in the snow.

Yeah, I really want one of the Chevrolet SS sedans, but DD'ing the thing on days like today would be a pain, even with winter tires and ESC.

I LOVE the sound. It's an angry little ball of a car, and I've enjoyed driving it.

I think it's hilarious that you posted this twice, the second one with a spelling correction and the one that has the bad spelling is getting recommended. :-)

I own a fiat 126 for winters (when the jeep is overkill , to save on gas) an it's perfect in snow . you may forgot that the original 500 was a rwd , rear engined car .

I got the opportunity to listen to a stock one, jeeezus that's the most aggressive sound I've ever heard for a cheap small car! My Swift Sport feels rather mute compared to it.. I have to fix this!

Fix this, but how - modding your Swift or by getting an Abarth 500 altogether?

Well... changing your car is complicated and is nearly always quite costly. So if I'm to change my car, I want the change to be worth the hassle and the added costs.

I don't think selling a perfectly running 125hp hot hatchback to buy a 135hp hot hatchback is a smart decision (over here the 500 only makes 135hp in standard form).

A milltek exhaust, now that's smart er :)

That's nice! Not overly loud or aggressive, but beefy. Suits the Swift (nice car, by the way!), so make it sound!

Once I owned a small car too, it was a not-so-hot Toyota Aygo. Equipped with a 1.0l 68hp three-cylinder-engine, it feels faster than it is. You could go up over 110km/h in 2nd gear without hitting the rev limiter, and seriously, this is what the stock car sounded like in the progress. Best part, the muffler was directly bolted to the spare wheel recess, making it resonate to the interior. Some fun was had. But seriously, what the hell were Toyota thinking?!

With good oil, proper maintenance and some more tyre air pressure, it could easily do that , too, and even keep it for more than an hour, without the inclinations. I am confident my hearing has decreased on that ride. (Mind that the Aygo is registered at a vmax of 159km/h)
